Alexandria: A Dusty Witch and Her Tools

Hi, I’m Alexandria, one of the witches at Woodchip Witch. I have been a resident of Cambridge Ontario Canada for the majority of my life. Fine woodworking has long been an interest and passion for me since I first began my adventure in the trade over a decade ago. I have been involved in the arts for many years, becoming an illustrator and graduating from design school. My interest in music led me to take up the craft of luthery, the art of creating handcrafted instruments. My drive is to create one of a kind custom instruments that the player will connect to and resonate with.

Since then I have taken up woodturning, producing a range of unique stationery and household gift items. One of my specialties being custom pen turning, inlaying Celtic knots and producing a full spectrum of colours. I also apply my skills to custom fine woodworking projects, with some examples being gift ware, home decor or restoration work.

Crafting magical tools and Pagan decor is another passion of mine. One of my favourite things to do is help other witches, light workers and Pagans of all stripes make their spaces and Altars feel more magical.

The connection to my craft comes from a yearning to return to a time when people invested themselves and took immense pride in their work. While I’m not afraid to learn modern processes, I enjoy doing things the old-fashioned way, rediscovering the techniques of our Grandparents. My love for all things vintage has led me to restore many antique tools and machines, all of which are in service in my studio and see daily use.

Every piece I make is made with love and dedication to ensure you will be getting a heirloom quality piece of art that you will be proud to own and one day pass down to your loved ones.

Alexandria made a book as a graphic design thesis, see it here

Hannah: The Whipstitch Witch

Hannah has been instrumental in Woodchip Witch’s growth, joining as a collaborator in 2022 for the harvest faire season and officially becoming a partner in 2023. Her passion, creativity and personality can be increasing seen throughout the company.

Crafting the textile work, she has experience in many different forms of fibre arts and makes a variety of whimsical products. She has an educational background in art and design and is also a talented illustrator, offering up her skills to decorate many of the woodworks. An avid player of Table Top Role Playing Games, Hannah also has vast experience in cosplay fabrication, having attended many conventions. Her witch hats in particular have been popular at Ontario renaissance faires since their introduction, with a full range of artisan crafts in development.

Most of her creations are made from repurposed fabrics, as Woodchip Witch is passionate about minimizing waste and being environmentally friendly.
